I just returned from NYC with my GLION SNAPnGO Scooter flying with American Airlines. To gate check the scooter, talk to the attendants at the Gate counter with plenty of time to get a Gate Check Tag. It was fairly easy, but you need to know the scooter weight and battery power for the form. Mention that the battery is removable and you will take it with you into the cabin or they will not approve your scooter. I bought the travel seat (separate purchase) which is much smaller, like a big bicycle seat and no backrest (uses your core). This seat fits nicely into a side bracket on the scooter so there are no separate pieces except for the battery. Very compact! The seat did come out of the storage bracket on both flights but thankfully it was not lost... I would love a fix for that issue. Battery is easy to remove but you must have the KEY! Tip: I put the key on a plastic spiral keyring, it stretches over the handle bar and removes quickly when on the jet bridge. Then the key slips onto my wrist so I don't lose it. Speed is great, actually it's fast! I love it, but it stops abruptly when you take your hand off the gas. It doesn't glide to a stop, it gives me a little jerk each time. Could be my numb thumb on the gas. The sidewalks were a little bumpy and uneven, but it did just fine if you stay out of the potholes. The standard seat is probably a much smoother ride but more cumbersome to travel with. I like that I sit a little higher on the travel seat so I can easily stay on conversation level. I am an active 55 year old female (130 lbs) with MS and I highly recommend this assistive scooter! I can now go and do a full days worth of adventure.
